Jonah/Sita Project

Jonah/Sita is an immersive installation performance art play-work in six parts (five hours), bringing together active imagination and guided imagery. Combining the stories of Jonah's whale and Sita's journey from the Ramayana, this theatrical Jungian therapeutic modality, using sand trays and set pieces, co-creates artistic dreamscapes that allows immersants to externalize and process unconscious emotions and themes: such as redemption, resilience, and reunion with confidence.

Phase 2 of the Jonah/Sita Project is currently underway with the construction of mobile sand tray tables, set design and supporting acoustic array. All will be available on an official website soon.

Composer, Singer, Director

John Geist is also a composer, and has received two Bay Area Critic Circle Awards, a Nonesuch National Commission Award, and been a California Arts Council Artist in Residence. He has been commissioned to create numerous works for the Kronos Quartet, Margaret Jenkins Dance Co., Chanticleer, and the Berkeley Repertory Theatre among many others. He has also served as Artistic Director of and composer for Chaucer Theatre.
